Exhibition Opening: 4 October 2013, 6pm – as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival.
Exhibition Dates: 5 October – 26 October 2013

What is the significance of artist run spaces? Ideas of transformation and change, energy and matter are used to celebrate the 10 years of Kings Artist Run Initiative with an exhibition and a publication.
Matter’s capacity to change as an arrangement of particles in flux is the exhibition departure point that highlights the connection between materials and ideas in the artistic process and a sense of performativity.
The following exhibition is a result of a process in which a first group of artists brought together by the curator, nominated an emerging artist to respond to the same brief. This process aims at supporting a community of peers as well as facilitating development in the arts. Does it Matter? Provides an opportunity to position Kings ARI in the present and to formulate possibilities for the future.
The publication will include an essay reflecting on the role of the artist run space, interviews with founding members, program highlights and submissions from past exhibitors and committee members.
Sunday 5 October, 11am: Panel Discussion as part of Critical Animals Festival – Newcastle.
